Active Schools Week 2026
Our Active Schools Week ran from Monday April 27th to Thursday April 30th. Our focus was on fun, participation and inclusion for every child in our school.
We took part in a wide range of engaging and active experiences. All our pupils thoroughly enjoyed their week and got to try a huge range of activities alongside their busy classroom schedules.
We had rugby sessions with Noel, dance classes with Kate and Paul, a school walk around the block, we danced the Macarena as a whole school, we tried some traditional playground games and our in house DJs playing tunes at breaktimes. On Thursday we held a Jersey Day in aid of our brilliant Parents' Association. We also had our annual Teachers vs 6th Class basketball match, which ended in a very controversial draw.
Active homework was encouraged this week, our students took a break from the books and got active in the evenings instead.

On Your Rothar 2026
To kick off our Active Schools Week, we welcomed Roisín from the On Your Rothar initiative. Roisín took each class out to the yard for a session focused on bike safety and maintenance, cycling skills and games. Children brought their own bikes and Roisín provided bikes for those who needed them, she also provided helmets and all other neccessary equipment. This fantastic opportunity was funded by the Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership (KRSP) and we are very thankful to them for making it possible. Thanks to Harry in 6th class for assisting Roisín on the day. Harry is a very skilled and dedicated cyclist and his help was greately appreciated on the day.
