Rambling House at Skeoughvosteen N.S.
On Monday 16th March we welcomed a group of storytellers, musicians and singers to our school for our first ever Rambling House. This was a wonderful celebration of Irish language, songs and culture, organised by Teddy in fifth class, as part of a project he completed for Ms. Wemyss. Thank you to Teddy and his mum for all their work in bringing such a wonderful tradition into our school, we hope it's the first of many!
There were lovely perfomances by our guests, as well as some brilliant singing, poetry, Irish dancing and musicianship from our talented pupils. A really lovely morning in Skeoughvosteen N.S.
As is tradition, we ended our Rambling House with some tea, cake and the all important raffle!

S.T.E.A.M. Challenges
All our classes have been engaging our creative and scientific sides this term, getting great use out of our amazing STEAM kits. We have been designing towers and bridges, solving puzzles and even becoming fashion designers!
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths, and we are definitely putting our skills in these areas to good use.

Bottle Bosses
Working in partnership with our Parents' Association, our school is running a recycling and returns initiative using our brand new Return Bin.
Every Friday, our Bottle Bosses in each class collect plastic bottles that the children bring in to school and our bin is very quickly filled!
The children and their families have responded so well to this scheme, and the Green Schools Committee have worked so well to get this up and running in our school. The children have ownership and can see the effect of their work immediately.
We believe this simple idea has turned a simple idea into a meaningful, student-led effort that builds responsibility, teamwork and environmental awareness.
The Bottle Boss has inspired others to take part, showing small actions can make a big difference. We are building habits to last a lifetime.
Our County Hurler
We were so proud to watch our 6th class student Howard play at half time of the recent Leinster Senior Hurling Championship match, between Kilkenny and Wexford.
Howard was chosen to represent his school, club and county with some of the best young hurlers from Kilkenny and Wexford.
As always Howard hurled with skill and discipline, and we are sure it will not be his last time wearing the county colours in Nowlan Park.
